Walking experience "Il sentiero del viandante"
The “Sentiero del Viandante”, a panoramic mountainside mule path winding through chestnut woods and olive trees.
This 3 hours guided trekking will allow you to discover the “Sentiero del Viandante” (Wanderer Path), a panoramic mountainside mule path winding through chestnut woods and olive trees. This path was the ancient way of connection between Lecco and Valtellina. Starting from Bellano where you will visit the “Orrido”, a waterfall located in a gorge that can be visited thanks to the walkway anchored to the rock walls that runs along the entire gorge. Continue towards San Rocco from where the mule track starts which takes you to Rivalba. You are in a lauretum landscape between meadows, olive groves and vineyards surrounded by the woods. You will see the "Witch Woods". Then continue towards Perledo , Tondello, the church of Perledo, San Martino. The square in front of the churchyard offers a priceless view of the lake. You go down to Madonna del Campallo. A staircase leads to the valley floor where the Esino stream flows. Under the stone bridge there is a small ravine carved by the waters into the dark limestone formations. At the end of the climb we enter medieval Vezio, cross a small square and reach Sant'Antonio. Continue south and, among the limestone rocks, you almost dive towards the lake. Outside the coppice we can admire the Bellagio promontory. You then go down a small asphalt road to the lakeside of Varenna.
